"(This is) a Book which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of intellect may remember." [38:29]

There is no book in the history of man that has been studied more, scrutinized more, explained more, by those who believe in it and those who want to discredit it, than the honorable Qur'an. This is natural for the Book that is serving as the lasting evidence for the truthfulness of Muhammad (SAAWS) and the validity of his message. Loving this Book, the way it sounds, the soothing verses, the deep meanings and wisdoms in it, its eloquence, and comprehensiveness of its legislation live in the heart of every Muslim.

This course series discusses some of these aspects. It starts by defining Al-Qur'an, its names, its language, and whether it can be translated or not. It then discusses the miracle of the Qur'an, where it lies, whether science is part of that miracle.

In addition, this series will cover the time the Qur'an  was revealed and the manner it was revealed in. It will discuss the recording of the Qur'an's at the time of the Messenger, and its compilation at the time of Abu Bakr and Uthman. It will go into the details of the fonts and arrangements of the Surahs and Ayaat and whether they are arranged via Wahi or Ijtihad of Sahabah.

Furthermore, the Ulum –Al-Quran series will discuss a widely unknown area amongst the Muslims - the revelation of Qur'an in seven Ahruf as well as the Readings of the Qur'an. The instructor will demonstrate how the Qur'an dealt with relevant issues by gradual revelation and addressing the occasions of revelations (asbab-un-Nuzool). The issue of Abrogation and Al-Muhkam and Mutashabih will also be discussed.

As the Arabic language is an integral part of Al-Qur'an, the linguistical aspect of the Qur'an will be explored by addressing issues such as the stories in Al-Qur'an, the general and restricted, the indefinite and definite, the utterance and the understanding of the utterance.

Then, these courses will take on the subject of Tafseer: Its sources, difference between Tafseer and Ta'weel, history of Tafseer and its evolution, types of Tafseer, affairs of a Mufasir and required morals. Finally the issue of recitation of the Qur'an will be addressed.
